Best Toilet Paper – Reviews and Top Brands

toilet-paper

Toilet paper isn’t something we usually give a whole lot of thought to is it. When doing our weekly shop, we tend to just grab our usual brand (or maybe choose one that’s on offer). But recent statistics say that the average person uses around fifty-seven sheets of toilet tissue per day.

That’s quite a lot, and we think it’s something that we should consider more carefully when choosing the right brand for us. Of course we want something that’s soft, but what if we could find something that was also strong enough that we could reduce our average daily usage? We could then save money as well.

Below, we compare nine of the best toilet papers so you can make an informed decision without having to stand in the supermarket for hours!

Our List of Best Toilet Papers

How to Choose the Right Toilet Paper:
Buying Guide

There are many factors to consider when deciding on the right toilet paper for you and your family.

Often the main consideration for many families is the price. Of course, no one wants to pay over the odds! When considering the price of the toilet paper, don’t just look at the pack price – think about the price per sheet.

Some brands look expensive at first glance, but when you look closer, you will see that they contain three or four times the amount of sheets than the cheaper pack.

Some other factors to consider are:

The “ply” number

It stands to reason that a two or three ply toilet paper will be stronger and more absorbent than a one ply paper, which means you will use less.

The eco-friendly claims

As people become more conscious of green issues, a recycled toilet paper might be high on your priority list. Look for the one that uses recycled products or sustainable products. Also, check to see if the toilet tissue is biodegradable and chlorine free.

Softness vs Strength

Softness is always an important factor. No one wants to use something that feel scratchy.

Getting the balance between softness and strength is something that brands have been trying to do for years.

While you don’t want a hard, scratchy toilet paper, you don’t want one that is so soft it shreds when wet, or your fingers can tear through it easily as you remove it from the roll. Ideally, you want the best of both worlds.

Look for a toilet paper that has two or three ply sheets for added strength, coupled with an embossed or cushioned finish for softness.

There are also a few other factors to consider, that might not be primary concerns, but still deserve a mention.

Are you looking for a particular colour to match your décor? If not, then consider choosing the most natural option for environmental purpose, and to save your money. Some brands charge extra for coloured paper.

Are you looking for a particular roll size so that you know it will fit your holder?

When deciding on your toilet tissue, always check to see if there is a larger pack (if your budget allows it) as buying in bulk will work out much cheaper in the long run, and as long as you store the toilet paper somewhere dry, it won’t spoil.

Have you spotted a new brand you want to try? Did your favourite brand make the list? Whichever brand you choose, we hope we have given you some food for thought that won’t include you having to stand in front of the toilet papers display at the supermarket pondering your options.
